Creative Recovery LA: Redefining Addiction Treatment Through Art
Los Angeles welcomed a fresh approach to addiction and trauma recovery as Creative Recovery LA officially opened its doors in West Hollywood on November 2, 2024. With a bold vision to move beyond conventional treatment models, this unique center focuses on the healing potential of music, art, and movement to support recovery. The grand opening was a celebration of creativity, resilience, and hope.
At the heart of this initiative is founder Cory B. Savage, who sought to address the shortcomings in traditional recovery programs. “Standard recovery treatment models aren’t always aligned with what the millions of Americans who are experiencing addiction need,” Savage explained during his remarks. “Creative Recovery LA offers a safe, non-judgmental environment where individuals can heal through a combination of traditional medicine, artistic expression, and other evidence-based therapies.”
A Comprehensive, Art-Driven Treatment Approach
Creative Recovery LA is reimagining the recovery process with programs designed to engage the mind, body, and spirit. The center offers a variety of care options, tailoring support to individual needs at every stage of recovery.
● Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): A structured experience focused on self-discovery through creative exploration.
● Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): A dynamic and art-centered approach to therapy, encouraging deeper connections to self and others.
● Outpatient Services: Flexible sessions blending artistic expression with evidence-based strategies to promote resilience and growth.
● Hillock House Sober Living Home: A supportive environment where residents can focus on achieving their full creative potential under 24/7 care.
Each program is complemented by specialized therapies such as music and art therapy, mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed care, emphasizing each client's unique journey. Patients can express themselves in a state-of-the-art recording studio, process emotions through tactile art, and find inner calm with guided meditation and yoga.
Celebrating Creativity in Healing
The grand opening event reflected the essence of Creative Recovery LA, drawing nearly 200 guests eager to explore its offerings. Attendees had the chance to experience sound baths, an engaging art installation by Kellen Hubbard, and guided tours of the yoga studio and therapy spaces, all showcasing the care and programs awaiting future clients.
The event culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by West Hollywood Mayor John M. Erickson, who presented a Certificate of Recognition to celebrate the center’s role in the community. Savage and Marquita Thomas, Founding President & CEO of the California LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, delivered heartfelt speeches highlighting the importance of creativity and inclusivity in recovery.
Adding to the celebratory tone, country music duo Thompson Square performed, blending entertainment with the message of hope and determination that defines Creative Recovery LA.
