Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the headliner for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show, marking a significant milestone in his career nearly 20 years after rapping about football legends on his early mixtapes. The show, set to take place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, will be produced by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for the sixth consecutive year.

This will be Lamar’s second Super Bowl performance after his 2022 appearance in a hip-hop tribute at Super Bowl LVI, alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and others. However, his relationship with the NFL has been complicated, particularly after the league’s controversial handling of Colin Kaepernick’s protests. Lamar, who once supported Kaepernick’s stance against systemic racism, did not address these past tensions in his statement, instead emphasizing the cultural impact of rap music. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar said.

The announcement comes after a highly publicized feud with Drake, with Lamar's 2024 diss track “Not Like Us” becoming one of the year’s biggest hits. As Lamar prepares to take the Super Bowl stage, fans and critics alike are eager to see how the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist will command one of the most watched platforms in the world.
